(ANSA) - ROME - According to the Desi 2021 Report, Italy ranks 20th out of 27 European countries for the diffusion of technology and digital skills.
Only 42% of people between 16 and 74 have basic digital skills, compared to 56% in Europe, and only 22% have more advanced digital skills, compared to 31% in Europe.
To bring seventh grade boys and girls closer to digital skills, and to discover the opportunities offered by the technology sector, in the school year 2021-22, WeSchool created the GetIT project with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Students challenged each other to design an app that could solve a problem in their school or community.
"As many as 416 teams from all over the country have sent us their idea of the app - explains Federica Leotta, Head of Education and Employer Branding at WeSchool -. This shows that our constant support to teachers has had a direct impact on students, who they felt involved and motivated in the challenge ".
"The AWS GetIT project has shown that technology can really help schools and communities - adds Cecile Bonnet, AWS GetIT Global Leader -. We want young people to be aware of the enormous possibilities that the technology industry offers today, and we we are committed to encouraging students to be more self-confident and overcome gender stereotypes ".
