Forced by storms, the organizers of the Eurockéennes de Belfort had to give up their first day of the festival this Thursday. Seven

It's an unfortunate opening for the Eurockéennes.

While a violent storm affected the entire Territory of Belfort on Thursday, the organizers of the famous rock festival (which was to take place for four days, until Sunday July 3) were forced by “weather conditions” and the local prefecture to cancel their first day of festivities, to the great misfortune of festival-goers who were to attend the Stromae concert in particular.

Seven people, slightly injured in unknown circumstances, were "taken care of at the hospital", specifies the prefecture.

“All our teams are mobilized to secure the people currently on the site”, adds for its part the festival.

The Territory of Belfort is one of the 11 departments of the East and Center-East placed in storm orange vigilance this Thursday by Météo France.

The forecaster anticipated violent stormy episodes, accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind, but above all by very high intensities of precipitation.

"Intensities of the order of 30 to 40 mm/h are possible", explains Météo France.

And to specify that the stormy activity will gradually diminish by the East in the evening.

More information to come soon

A prediction which did not fail to come true this Thursday and which makes it easy to understand why the services of the prefecture of the Territoire de Belfort and the organizers of the Eurockéennes deemed it more prudent to postpone the start of the festival.

At the beginning of June, the Parisian festival We Love Green was forced to give up its Saturday evening, when the Bois de Vincennes site was literally flooded.

If the participants in We Love Green had been able to console themselves by obtaining reimbursement for their shortened day of the festival, the organizers of the Eurockéennes have not yet given any information on the rest of the events.

“So those who had a place, will there be a system like we can come tomorrow or Saturday?

“Questioned, without response, a user on Twitter.

More information is coming soon, promises the organization.

However, festival-goers can be reassured.

According to Météo France, the storms will evacuate “gradually in the first part of the night from Thursday to Friday by the eastern borders, giving way to a rainy-stormy disturbance, but with less significant consequences.
