(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JUNE 30 - The NATO innovation fund is officially born in Madrid.
With one billion euros of capitalization, it will be used to finance start-ups and high-tech SMEs in the territory of the Alliance.
"It is the world's first venture capital fund of this type," said Secretary Jens Stoltenberg.
"We need to maintain our technological drive now that China and Russia are competing in this key area," he said.
The fund is supported by 22 NATO countries, including Italy, which was represented at the signing ceremony by Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini.
