Hollywood star Cameron Diaz is back in front of the camera for a joint film with Jamie Foxx after a year-long break.
Foxx announced this on Twitter.
"Cameron and I are 'Back in Action' - that's the title of our new movie with Netflix," Foxx wrote.
"Production will start later this year." The streaming provider also shared the post on its Twitter account.
Foxx also published a short recording of a phone call between the two.
Diaz is nervous about her comeback.
"I'm excited, but I don't even remember how it all works, you know?" she says.
Foxx then gets football star Tom Brady on the phone to help her.
“Jamie told me you need tips on stepping out of retirement.
I'm pretty good at it," jokes the athlete.
Brady announced his comeback to the NFL in March after just 40 days as a sports retiree.
The tips he gave Diaz can no longer be heard in the recording.
"I can't wait, this will be fun"
The actress also shared the news on her own Instagram story.
"Jamie, only you could get me back in action!" she wrote.
»I can't wait, this is going to be fun!« According to the industry magazine »Entertainment Weekly«, the film is an action comedy.
There is no release date yet.
Diaz was last seen in the musical adaptation »Annie« in 2014 – also together with Jamie Foxx.
Then she retired from the film business.
In 2015 she married the Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden, in 2019 the couple's daughter was born.
Diaz, who celebrates her 50th birthday in August, has been one of Hollywood's most successful actresses since the 1990s.
Her breakthrough came with the role of Mary Jensen in There's Something About Mary.
She received a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her performance in the comedy.
Just one year later, she was again awarded the coveted trophy for her role in »Being John Malkovich«.
