The three pony ladies Sunny, Lola and Girly really only want one thing: finally a loving new home.

But all sanctuaries are overcrowded.

Hamburg – The Hamburg Animal Welfare Association is desperate: Since December 2021, Sunny, Lola and Girly have been waiting for loving horse people who will give the ponies a new home.

But no one wants the protégés.

The problem: all the sanctuaries in the area are overcrowded and there are hardly any other interested parties.

However, the team does not want to give up for a long time and is now turning to the Hamburg media and the public for help.

Ponies rescued from poor husbandry - nobody wants them

Sunny, Lola and Girly have experienced a lot in their pony life.

However, a lot of it is not associated with pleasant memories.

The veterinary office of the district of Hamburg-Mitte had been keeping an eye on the original owners for a long time because of non-animal welfare-compliant keeping of the horses.

When one of the ponies fell into a ditch and almost drowned, it was finally clear: they cannot stay in their old home.

The veterinarians secured the four-legged friends and handed them over to the Hamburg Animal Welfare Association - just like the abused Lipizzaner mare Capriola, who is put in the horse box of the Austrian Animal Welfare Association.

Since then, the three pony ladies have been waiting to finally move into a loving new home.

Ponies rescued from bad husbandry - "We already have too many animals"

But all attempts by the Hamburg Animal Welfare Association to find a new home for the four-legged friends have so far been unsuccessful.

Because all sanctuaries in the area have already completely exhausted their capacities.

"Everywhere I get the same answer: We're already full, we already have too many animals," explains Jasmin Bruns, who looks after the hoofed and hoofed animals at the Süderstraße animal shelter together with an animal care team.

The reason: Many people had to part with their horses or animals during the Corona period for financial reasons.

"The only thing I'm being offered is that the profile of the three can be passed on.

But nobody answers that either.”

Ponies rescued from poor husbandry - mares want an open stable

The trusting four-legged friends do not need an unusual way of keeping them.

All they want for their pony happiness is a cozy open stable where they can walk in and out on their own.

At almost 30 years old, horse grandma Sunny and her 21-year-old friend Lola could also consider a sanctuary for animals as a new home to enjoy their retirement.

Although the approximately two-year-old Girly is Lola's daughter and the pony mares are a well-rehearsed team, the future owner does not have to adopt all the horses together.

"The three do not have to be mediated together," emphasizes the Hamburg animal protection association in its most recent appeal on Facebook.

However, there is still a small "hurdle" for the new owner(s): Before the ponies are allowed to move, the veterinary office must give their approval for the new accommodation - so that the trio can be happy in the well-deserved pony paradise.
