While the real Formula 1 season is already in full swing, it will also start virtually in July.
With "F1 22" one innovation takes a lot of getting used to, but another feature is all the more exciting.
This year's version of the officially licensed Formula 1 video game, "F1 22" is in the starting blocks.
It certainly stands out from the series of racing games because, among other things, it deals with real Formula 1 tracks.
In addition, some racing drivers play themselves, including Charles Leclerc or George Russell - so it seems to be a fairly realistic simulation.
But with every sports game, the question arises: How big are the differences to the previous version really?
"F1 22": New "F1 Life" mode is questionable
In terms of gameplay, the Codemasters developers have tweaked a few things.
The driving behavior of the Formula 1 cars is therefore slightly different than the predecessor - but on the whole almost the same.
Some changes to the available modes are new.
The story mode is completely omitted from "F1 22"
- however, in last year's version that was just a nice extra that fans can certainly do without.
The big innovation this year is the
"F1 Life" mode
.
This is intended to recreate the enviable lifestyle of a Formula 1 driver.
Players get an apartment that you can outfit with virtual bells and whistles.
Real supercars or clothes from real brands for the avatar are also available.
Fortunately, all the virtual junk doesn't affect the gameplay and much of it is available for free.
However, a lot of content
is only available through the in-game currency of "F1 22" - called "Pitcoin"
.
Therefore, the whole thing seems like a mode that was introduced only to expand the microtransactions in the game.
Since EA acquired Codemasters, many critics feared that such a move would come about.
As is usual for successful sports games, a new Formula 1 game is coming onto the market this year with “F1 22”.

"F1 22" makes optimal use of the features of the PS5 controller
In addition to supporting VR glasses in "F1 22", the developers have introduced another ingenious feature.
This year's version will make use of
adaptive triggers
and haptic feedback from the PS5 DualSense controller.
In concrete terms, this means, for example, that the shoulder buttons offer more or less resistance when accelerating and braking depending on the grip, condition of the tires and other factors.
In addition,
the vibrations of the controller should be more nuanced
, so that players can feel bumps on the track even more precisely or whether touches are made on the right or left side.
F1 22 will be available on July 1st for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.
