Since January 1, book sales have indeed suffered a drop of 11% over one year, according to the observatory of the Syndicate of French bookstores (SLF), which follows the daily activity of more than 400 bookstores in the country.
“Comics and manga, which are particularly driven by the culture pass, are much more spared
,” says Laura de Heredia, in charge of the Observatory.
Over the last six months, this segment shows a decrease of 6% compared to 2021.
The exceptional dynamic experienced by the sector last year (with a 20% increase in sales) was ultimately based on the behavior of a handful of French people.
