The Supreme Court of Texas authorized the entry into force of a
1925 law
that prohibits abortion and punishes those who practice it with possible
imprisonment
, overturning the sentence of a lower court that had temporarily blocked it.
The controversial attorney general Ken Paxton announced it.
The law was no longer applied after the "Roe v Wade" ruling in 1973 by which the supreme court legalized abortion.
But in recent days that sentence was repealed by the same court.
"
A victory for life!
" Paxton cheered on Twitter.
"Our pre-Roe state provisions banning abortion in Texas are 100% good laws. The legal controversy continues but I will continue to win for the unborn children of Texas," he added.
