Several doctors and association leaders plead for vaccination against "monkeypox" to be offered as a preventive measure to people exposed, in particular men belonging to the gay community, and not only to contact cases at risk.

“Since we cannot effectively trace the chains of contamination, the logic is to try to circumscribe the epidemic by vaccinating the exposed populations, which have the advantage of being fairly well identified”, develops the infectiologist Anne-Claude Cremieux.
