The Mélibée is a pretty ochre-coloured butterfly, recognizable by the bright orange band and the black-circled white dots drawn on its wings.
If you want to have a chance to observe it, it twirls in some localities of the Jura massif.
But for how much longer?
Like hundreds of its congeners from other Lepidoptera families, the Coenonympha hero, described by naturalists as early as the 18th century, is now in critical danger of extinction in France.
