Soon, a significant improvement is also expected in the economy class of passenger planes.
The first swallow to launch flatbed beds in the economy class is Air New Zealand.
In fact, it is the first airline in the world to make the move, offering the beds known as Skynest pods ("nest-sky cells", in free translation).
These beds will also be offered in the premium class of the company’s aircraft.
The SUN website reports that these bunk beds will be offered to passengers at an additional cost, and will be designed for only four hours of sleep, and each passenger will be able to book only one sleeping session.
However, you should know that each such compartment comes with a curtain for privacy as well as a pillow and sheet that will be replaced after each sleep cycle.
In addition, each compartment will have USB sockets and vents.
The new beds will only be available on long-haul flights, and will be incorporated into the airline's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from 2024. It is not yet known what the expected pleasure price will be, and all that remains is to wait for the launch of the relevant booking system.

And there are also sofa beds for families
Air New Zealand CEO Greg Furan called the expected move a "change of rules of the game" for economy class passengers.
We have focused on sleep, comfort and health issues, as we know how important it is for our customers to reach their destination after a proper rest.
"Whether they come directly to a meeting or to their first vacation destination, they want to do it fresh."

Air New Zealand first announced the economy class beds project in 2020. Already today, the company offers sofa-like seats (called Skycouch) designed, among other things, for families who have ordered a full line.
These can easily turn into a spring of beds.
Of course, other airlines also offer similar systems.
For example, the German Lufthansa has launched its own makeshift beds in economy class, where even in this case passengers can purchase an entire row for themselves to create them.
The price of this type of "sleeping line" starts at 159 euros each way, with the company providing a mattress, pillows and a blanket.
All it takes is to book three or four seats in a row.
Air New Zealand's bedding project was unveiled at the annual Crystal Cabin Awards.
