(ANSA) - ROME, 03 JUL - In Texas, a group of educators, as part of the updating in the State of programs for elementary schools and specifically for classes of pupils between 7 and 8 years old, proposed that the termineschiavitù, precisely in the context of the description of the historical phenomenon in the USA, with the expression 'involuntary relocation'.
The intervention is part of the ongoing debate in American institutions on how to address and analyze the racial theme in schools.
The proposal, however, was rejected by the competent Texan commission, on the grounds that "our commitment is for the truth and this includes an accurate description of historical events".

He explained to the Wawshington Post the reasons for his immediate reaction against the proposal: "I cannot lend my support to anything that describes slave trafficking as 'involuntary relocation'. I cannot lend my support to anything that undermines that path."
