The award-winning television journalist and "Panorama" presenter Anja Reschke will have her own program on the first channel next year.
The Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) announced on Monday in Hamburg that she would present investigative research, complex backgrounds and political contexts in an entertaining way.
The show should combine outstanding journalism with entertainment and also offer a pinch of humor and satirical exaggeration, said NDR program director Frank Beckmann according to the announcement.
When asked by SPIEGEL, the broadcaster will inform about the slot in due course.
The moderator herself expressed her delight at “the expertise of our outstanding and award-winning research and satirical editors being brought together in this new program in the future”.
It sounds a bit like ARD found the answer to Jan Böhmermann in Reschke, which insiders say had been sought for a long time: The "ZDF Magazin Royale" often presents research in a satirical form.
An NDR spokeswoman: "Anja Reschke is Anja Reschke".
In Reschke's own words, their drive for the new show is to find new ways »to convey to the audience the topics that a society needs for free discourse, for a lively democracy, in an interesting or entertaining way.«

Reschke, 49, has been presenting the ARD political magazine »Panorama« for 20 years - and will continue to do so - and also presents the program »Wissen vor Acht - Zukunft« on the first.
She was awarded the Hanns-Joachim-Friedrichs-Prize, the German Television Prize and journalist of the year.
She gave up the moderation of the NDR media magazine »Zapp« when she was promoted to head of the culture and documentation program area in 2019.
Reschke is now resigning from this editorial management function, which has included the cross-media area of society since 2021, in favor of the new show.
The broadcaster has not yet announced who will succeed her in office.
