The omicron variant of the corona virus is more contagious than delta, but the duration of the disease is shorter, as researchers have shown.

London – In contrast to the delta variant of the corona virus, Omicron is considered the “milder” variant.

Milder because the virus does not usually affect the lungs and does not lead to very severe courses, but primarily infects the upper respiratory tract.

Accordingly, Omicron differs in form and extent from other corona subtypes - and the duration of the symptoms also seems to differ from previous virus variants, especially if those affected are vaccinated.

24vita.de reveals the differences between those who have been vaccinated twice and those who have been boosted.

This was determined by British researchers as part of the large-scale "Zoe Covid Symptom Study", the results of which were published in "The Lancet".

In the study, in which more than four million people took part, both delta and omicron sufferers should record their symptoms and their duration in an app.

In total, the symptoms of 63,000 patients at Kings College London were evaluated.

The participants in the study had already been vaccinated against corona two or three times before they became ill.
