Umbria has asked for a state of emergency due to the drought.
This was announced by the president of the Region Donatella Tesei who, as explained in a note, had "already raised in recent days, during the
State-Regions Conference, the theme of very urgent government interventions for the drought in Umbria, and in particular for the Trasimeno lake ".
The request was made today to the Government and to the National Civil Protection.
"Consequently - explained Tesei - I represented to the competent ministries the need to bring our lake basin back into the drafting of the drought decree".
Tesei also announced that he had "given his availability to cover the role of Deputy Commissioner for the Emergency for Umbria, based on the experience of post-earthquake reconstruction, so as to be able to better manage a series of ordinary and extraordinary interventions of which Trasimeno needs ".
At 6 pm the Council of Ministers is scheduled to meet at Palazzo Chigi to decide on a state of emergency due to drought in the most affected areas.
