Celebrating 35 years of his school, which has trained generations of stars to appear on stages and screens, the veteran acting teacher joins his alumni and will play alongside them in the new season of the youth series √ In an interview he recounts: "If I were an actor I would not go far"

This week, the great leaders of yesteryear, including Golda, Begin and Ben-Gurion, are also returning to the world of children's content.

This is happening as part of the new season of the "Palmach" series, which aired on the Tin-Nick channel for YES viewers.

This season, created by Jonathan Bar-Ilan and Eden Gurion, abounds in a shimmering star cast, along with a veteran battle fox who is already well acquainted with the world of showbiz and is responsible for quite a few of the characters who star on stage and screens.

Yoram Levinstein (72), the director of the acting school that will soon mark 35 years since its inception, has fun in front of the camera but does not regret for a moment that his acting career was interrupted quite quickly and sent him on a teaching and mentoring track.

"When I was studying acting at university I was told I did not belong to the profession, but these are still my sources," he recalls with a smile, "and pretty quickly I opened acting workshops and started teaching. I was the first to open a private acting workshop that turned into what is today a school. I also welcome every day when I am not an actor, otherwise I would not have come far. "

Being on a set does not lead to a pinch in the heart about the actor's career that may have been missed?

"No, no, no. I know I could not develop an actor's career. My character is not right. But I'm always happy for guest roles."

So how was Ben-Gurion's role born?

"I no longer remember how it happened. I think my students brought up my name, and when they approached me with the idea I fell, I said to them, 'Am I Ben-Gurion?' "Not acting school. I did not know how to approach it. I was debating whether I should imitate his voice, and then I had a conversation with the director who reassured me and said 'be yourself'. They put on a wig, and I was just suddenly Ben-Gurion."

Levinstein will soon mark 35 years of his school, which has become one of the most esteemed institutions there is today, but if you ask him - he really did not aim and dreamed of reaching this moment.

"I started in the living room I rented from tenants who left the house twice a week, gathered friends and started teaching. There were students who came and wanted to stay another year and I told them I did not have the tools, knowledge and infrastructure for it, but a year later I was more ready and opened second year and then third year was added." .

What do you think about the phenomenon that today tends to cast for TV series network stars and not acting school graduates?

"It's important to remember that in acting studies you acquire tools to survive in the profession and deal with roles that you will play in 30 years in the theater. Easy also goes easy. "

Can you understand acting school graduate players rejoicing against the phenomenon?

"Yes, I can understand them. It's really frustrating that you invest and someone comes and overtakes you in a second, but you also have to trust your abilities and tools - what a network star can not do. People are welcome to see our shows in the studio, the high level of other graduates "This is how they are taken to the various theaters. But I admit that in light of the period, I also change things in the curricula and connect to the changes that are happening in the world today."
