Mattarella writes to Biden for July 4th: "The transatlantic link is unavoidable"

"In the current dramatic circumstances, marked by the pandemic and the war in the heart of Europe, the transatlantic link has reconfirmed its inescapable centrality, showing that it is the key to effectively address common challenges. In this context, unity of purpose in the face of the unacceptable Russian aggression against Ukraine, it must be constantly strengthened, in support of the shared commitment in favor of peace, freedom and democracy ".

This was stated by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message sent to the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, for the 4th of July. 

"I trust that Washington and Rome will continue to strengthen the partnership that animates our joint efforts, also in all multilateral fora and in the context of relations between the United States and the European Union. In this way we will be able to operate with ever greater effectiveness in support of the affirmation of common values, as well as of a sustainable and inclusive path of economic development and social progress which, in the current economic situation, also requires particular attention to the global aspects of energy and food security.
