The Amsterdam police have arrested another suspect in the case of the killed reporter Peter R. de Vries.
It is a 27-year-old who is already in custody for another crime, as the prosecutor confirmed.
Previously, the newspaper "De Telegraaf" and the Dutch news agency ANP had reported.
Peter de Vries was considered the most prominent crime reporter in the country.
In July 2021 he was gunned down in the street.
He succumbed to his injuries nine days later.
The trial of two defendants is already underway in Amsterdam: 22-year-old Delano G. and Kamil E., who is said to have driven the getaway car.
The suspect who has now been arrested is said to have coordinated the crime of the two accused, said a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office.
The murder had hit the Netherlands hard and caused horror - also because organized crime was blamed for the crime.
The public prosecutor assumes that the accused acted on behalf of a notorious drug gang, because the journalist was the confidant of a key witness against the gang (read more about the background here).
