(ANSA) - MILAN, 04 JUL - Banks in decline in Europe after the Financial Times news that the European Central Bank is studying a way to prevent credit institutions from earning billions of euros in extra profits from the ultra-cheap loan program launched during pandemic, once it starts to raise interest rates at the end of this month.
The equity sector of the banks lost 0.3% while lostoxx 600, the index that brings together the main listed companies, gained 0.8%.
The biggest drops were recorded in Piazza Affaricon Intesa (-2.5%), Mps (-2.6%), Bper (-1.8%) and Unicredit (-0.5%).
In the Old Continent, there was also a negative trend for Banco deSabadell (-3.4%), Commerzbank (-2.3%), Societe Generale (-1.1%) and Credit Agricole (-0.4%).
