In Saarland, birds transported green waste onto a power line. With fatal consequences: the grass caught fire, fell down and set the meadow on fire.

Birds have triggered a meadow fire in Saarland.

As reported by the North Saarland Police Inspectorate in Wadern, the fire in the meadow in the community of Nonnweiler was reported.

The fire brigade and police forces determined that birds had caused the fire in the approximately 250 square meter meadow.

A witness had therefore observed how the animals transported green waste on a wooden power pole.

Some straws came into contact with one of the three power cables.

The green waste then caught fire, fell on the meadow and set fire to other green waste in the area of the power pole.

There was also a bang and the power went out.

According to the information, firefighters managed to bring the fire under control and extinguish it.

In addition, the responsible electricity provider was informed.
