(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 06 - Delegated by the Rome Public Prosecutor and in collaboration with the Farnesina, the Carabinieri del Ros are from today on a mission to Congo to question the five subjects arrested by the local authorities for the murder of the Italian ambassador of the ambassador Luca Attanasio and of the carabiniere Vittorio Iacovacci, which took place on February 22 last year in Goma, in the area of ​​the Virunga Park.

The objective is to verify, in the light of the evidence collected in Italy, the reliability of the statements made by the five.


   In addition to the interrogations, the mission of the men of the special operational group, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Sergio Colaiocco, will aim at exchanging investigative elements collected between the two countries and the acquisition of data on telephone traffic.

The activity will last a week and will be carried out by the anti-terrorism section of the Ros together with the scientific investigation department and the GIS.

On the death of the Italian diplomat and the carabiniere in recent months, the prosecutors of Piazza Clodio have proceeded to close the investigation which sees Rocco Leone, deputy director of Pam, the UN food program and his collaborator MansourRwagaza registered in the register.

The accusation against them is of manslaughter for not having respected the security protocols in the preparation of Attanasio's mission.
