(ANSA) - ROME, JULY 04 - The President of the United States JoeBiden has awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest American civil honor, to Steve Jobs and other personalities.
The posthumous recognition of Apple's co-founder who changed the history of technology will be awarded in a ceremony this week.
The White House said, noting that Jobs' vision, who died on October 5, 2011, "his imagination and creativity have led to inventions that have changed and continue to change the way the world communicates, as well as transforming the industries of computers, music, cinema and wireless communications ".
Also on the list of awards is Sandra Lindsay, the New York nurse who in December 2020 was the first person to receive the Covid vaccine;
Oscar winner Denzel Washington, multiple Olympic gymnastics champion Simone Biles, US women's soccer star and LGBT rights icon Megan Rapinoe, Republican Senator John McCain, will also be a posthumous award for the latter.
