The Latin rock legend, 74, said he “forgot to eat and drink water” while performing in Clarkston, Michigan.

Veteran guitarist Carlos Santana passed out on stage during a concert in the United States on Tuesday night after suffering from heat and dehydration.

The 74-year-old 9-time Grammy winner was performing at the Pine Knob Music Theater in Clarkston, Michigan when the incident took place.

A statement on his website said he was taken to the emergency department at McLaren Clarkston Medical Center for observation and is doing well.

“To each and everyone, thank you for your precious prayers.

Cindy and I are fine, resting

,” wrote Carlos Santana on his Facebook page, referring to his wife, drummer Cindy Blackman.

“I forgot to eat and drink water, got dehydrated and passed out, blessings and miracles to you all,”

he simply explained.

Weakened by heart problems in December

Images of the concert posted on social networks show medical personnel and members of the musician's team helping him on stage.

Carlos Santana's manager, Michael Vrionis, said in a statement that the Latin rock legend's concert, scheduled for Wednesday (July 6) in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, will be postponed.

In December 2021, Carlos Santana was forced to cancel several concerts in Las Vegas, weakened by heart problems.

If the guitarist's teams wanted to be reassuring about the state of health of the star, the

Hollywood Reporter

had however indicated that he had to undergo an

"unforeseen cardiac intervention".
