(ANSA) - ROME - Increase the number of vaccinated with the fourth dose, to protect the most fragile population from Covid-19 and reduce the number of hospitalizations.

This is the objective of the communication campaign launched by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Health, which will be broadcast on Rai networks, on the web and on social media.

Following the indications of the European Medicines Agency (Ema), from 14 April last, the ministry recommended the administration of a second booster dose, called the 'fourth dose', for the elderly and frail categories, in consideration of the fact that after 4 months from the first booster dose there is a clear reduction in coverage against Sars-Cov-2.

The administration of a second booster dose restores vaccination coverage and is essential for the protection of the most fragile subjects, more exposed to the risk of serious disease from Covid-19.

For now, the recipient categories of the second booster dose are the elderly over 80, the elderly resident in the nursing homes, over 60 with highly frail conditions, family members and caregivers of the people in the recipient categories.

The protagonist of the video, already visible online and on social media, is a grandson who accompanies his 80-year-old grandmother to be given the fourth dose of vaccine by the attending physician.

The claim and hashtag of the spot, in line with that of the entire anti-Covid vaccination campaign, is "Facciamolopernoi".
