Shipping for three shelf hooks costs eight times as much as the product for Ikea customers: "Are you serious?"

At Ikea you can buy cheap furniture and everything you need for a comfortable home.

In view of the horrendous shipping costs, a customer quickly stops being comfortable.

Hofheim am Taunus - Some love it and some hate it, shopping at the Swedish furniture store Ikea.

You can get lost in the seemingly endless aisles and more and more things end up in the shopping trolley than originally planned.

Not least because Ikea always has tempting offers in its range.

The furniture store now even wants to sell solar systems in its branches.

If you don't want to go into the depths of the Ikea branch, you can of course also order online.

But this was a nasty surprise for an Ikea customer, which he shared on his Twitter channel.

Ikea: That's how expensive it is to ship three shelf hooks for six euros

Annoyed, the customer turns directly to the Ikea press team with his concerns.

Apparently he ordered three hooks for a shelf from the IVAR series for a total of six euros, because they "unfortunately haven't been available in the branch for months".

Delivery is now possible again, as the screenshot of the invoice shows.

But when you look at the shipping costs, it can really take your breath away.

The delivery and service costs for the three small hooks are given as 49 euros.

The mere shipping costs more than eight times the actual product.

The buyer's frustration is understandable.

He writes: "Are you serious?

That's at best a DHL parcel M..."

Ikea: The company has not yet commented

All in all, ordering the three hooks costs the Twitter user a whopping 55 euros.

Ikea has so far not responded to this.

However, our editors tested how expensive the shipping costs from Ikea in Munich would be for these shelf hooks.

The result: Here, too, shipping costs of 49 euros are given for the three hooks.

On request, Ikea will explain the high shipping costs.

This is probably due to the fact that "the item is postal and is currently not in stock." It is "best to try to order later".

The following sentence can be found on the website about shipping: "Delivery by parcel is available from €4.90 or by freight forwarder from €49." With these high shipping costs, going to the local furniture store is probably worth it - for €49 then also one or the other hot dog in it.
