The new director general of the Hospitals of Paris, appointed Monday in the Council of Ministers, reviewed Tuesday the new budget forecasts of the institution before the medical commission of establishment, a kind of parliament of the doctors of the AP-HP.
The figures are not good: the deficit is expected at 228 million euros this year, against 184 million expected in December.
A clear "
degradation
" mainly due to inflation which is driving up the prices of subcontractors and other "
external services
".
The addition is already estimated at 58 million euros at the end of May, enough to underline "
the need for financial support
by Social Security and the Ministry of Health.
The AP-HP also suffers from a "
start of the year very marked by the Covid

massive deprogramming

Despite “
a particularly tense situation
”, this rectified budget “
preserves the ambitious recruitment efforts
”, but also the investments programmed for more than 550 million euros this year, the same source added.
But after the record deficits recorded in 2020 (-246 million) and 2021 (-230 million), the debt of the Hospitals of Paris will continue to widen and should exceed 3.4 billion euros at the end of the year, against 2 5 billion at the end of 2019, just before the Covid-19 health crisis.
