VIDEO. Strike at the SNCF: "Fewer trains, a new ticket but my train is maintained!"

2022-07-06T15:17:14.368Z

The four representative unions of the SNCF, CGT, Unsa, SUD-Rail and CFDT have called for a strike to demand wage increases.

"I'm looking for the train to Melun but as I can see there is no train in the station, which is very strange for the Gare de Lyon" Despite being late for work, Alexandre has a big smile: "C'est la vie, it's the strike in France".

No scene of disorganization in Parisian stations: the SNCF had warned travelers of this social movement.

“We received an email yesterday with a change: fewer trains, new ticket, but the train is maintained, for the moment everything is fine”, explains Philippe.

Hugues takes things from him in a less positive way: “It annoys me deeply because we have strikes all the time.

In fact it's just to annoy people on a daily basis.

For once we have a quiet summer, we are still bothered to leave!

“Diego is prosaic to him:” I no longer remembered that there was this strike.

We should have looked before.

In any case there will be a lot of strikes this year”

Faced with soaring inflation and as rail prepares for a summer of record attendance after two years marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, the unions are demanding wage increases.

They are calling for a general wage increase of 6%, modeled on inflation over the year, from 5.8% in June according to INSEE.

“If the CEO of the SNCF wants to spend a quiet summer, he had better go to the checkout!

launches Éric Meyer, Federal Secretary of SUD-Rail.

If the management's proposal is a provocation, there will be spontaneous movements all over France.
