The head of the ZDF main editorial department for sports, Thomas Fuhrmann, will have a new job profile in the house.
The background is that his wife and ZDF Vice Editor-in-Chief Bettina Schausten is rising in the hierarchy.
At the beginning of April, ZDF announced that the management of the public-law institution was being reorganized.
Schausten becomes editor-in-chief under the new ZDF director Norbert Himmler.
In this capacity she would be her husband's direct superior if he retained his position.
Fuhrmann has been in charge of the main editorial department for sports since 2017. A broadcaster confirmed that when Schausten took over the editorship at the beginning of October, her husband would take on a different function that would correspond to his skills and experience in sports.
The company is now looking for a new head of the main sports editorial team.
The change should take place on October 1st.
According to information from the dpa news agency, a function in the field of sports strategy is being considered for the 56-year-old, based at the director Himmler.
Among other things, this should involve observing and analyzing the international and national sports markets and advising the main sports editorial team on broadcast formats or sports rights.
The board of directors still has to approve a contract change, and the next meeting is planned for September.
