So-called submarine parents don't care about their children's school career.

They only show up with the teachers when the going gets tough.

Munich – Helicopter parents are often criticized for being overly protective of their children.

Instead of promoting their independence, they want to give the little ones a life without obstacles.

But there is also another species of parents whose upbringing style can be just as damaging to children as they grow up: the so-called submarine parents.

Like helicopters, helicopter parents constantly circle around their children to observe and almost guard them.

An expert therefore warns against children with behavioral disorders.

Due to their higher intelligence, however, children of helicopter parents could be more successful later in life.

Submarine parents, on the other hand, usually hold back when it comes to raising their children.

As the name suggests, they dive like a submarine, harming little ones in a way similar to the other extreme of helicopter or lawnmower parents.

The disappearance is particularly evident during the school career.

First of all, U-Boot parents aren't present at parents' conferences, for example, and never show up at such events.

Accordingly, they are hardly interested in their children's school activities and do not really care about them.

However, as soon as things get really critical and the students are in danger of being moved, for example, they suddenly appear with the teachers.

Then they can sometimes bring out the heavy artillery.

Submarine parents threaten teachers with bad grades with a lawyer - before that they don't care about their children's school career

Sometimes just a bad grade is enough to suddenly get on the teacher's mat.

Then U-boat parents either complain directly to the teachers or they go straight to the school administration, although they previously avoided any conversation.

It can also happen that the teachers receive a letter from a lawyer or the parents object to a non-promotion.

Similar to lawnmower parents who want to clear away possible obstacles in life for their children, U-boat parents also try to protect their children from nasty surprises at school.

However, sometimes it is already too late and the children suffer the most.

Because their parents should have supported them much earlier in their difficulties.
