“What is happening around #ZEVENT2022 affects me enormously”, confides on Twitter Adrien Nougaret, alias Zerator, the founder of this charity project.
Since the announcement of this 7th edition at the start of the week, Internet users have been heavily criticizing the organization's choices.
However, in principle, the event is the same: for 50 hours over three days, all the creators present broadcast a video stream, taking turns.
The content is mainly devoted to video games, but also to challenges or contests.
The goal is to raise money for charity through donations from spectators.
During Zevent2021, the total amount of donations reached 10 million euros, a record, for the benefit of Action against Hunger.
But this year, it is the GoodPlanet foundation, which fights for the protection of the environment, is the lucky beneficiary.
To the chagrin of fans of this streaming marathon.
Suspicion of greenwashing
On the networks, the ethics of the association founded in 2005 by the photographer and director Yann Arthus-Bertrand, is questioned.
This French foundation recognized as being of public utility aims to "place ecology and humanism at the heart of consciences and to arouse the desire to act concretely for the Earth and its inhabitants".
It fights for access to green energy for the most disadvantaged populations and partners with various companies to support them in reducing their carbon emissions.
However, some of these partners, such as Total, have earned the foundation accusations of greenwashing.
The famous director has also admitted - with regret - to having supported Qatar for the organization of the 2022 football world cup in exchange for financing for his film "Home".
U
In response to the invectives, Adrien Nougaret published a long explanatory thread of tweets.
To calm the situation, he undertakes to organize a live interview with a representative of GoodPlanet before and during the event.
For streamers who can't come to ZEVENT, don't fall on them, we sent out most invites on May 4th to be exact.
When it's a planning problem it's bad luck but we can't shift everything and we thought that preventing 5 months in advance...

The absence of headliners
After a musical show by Soprano, PV Nova, Big Flo and Oli or even French Fuse, around fifty streamers are supposed to launch their live stream… and the gaming community did not fail to notice the absence of a large part of the heads French streaming poster.
Squeezie, Michou, Amine, Inoxtag or even Reubeu Deter are missing.
A line-up (team composition) considered disappointing by many Internet users on Twitter.
The #Zevent2022 without kameto, gotaga, squeezie, amine, Billy, Michou, inox, locklear, tomy, sardoche, jdg and others… Life is not worth living.
We are already waiting for 2023 with, we hope, a better line-up.

On social networks, some have even gone so far as to accuse the organizer Zerator of racism, prompting those absent to quickly deny it, like Reubeu Deter.
The vast majority would simply be unavailable due to “planning incompatibilities”.
I just got home and have the battery that I read a lot of aberrations about the ZEvent.
The family, there's no racism whatsoever, neither on the side of Zera nor the organization nor anyone.
We were all invited back for the most part, it's just that it doesn't fit

Finally, all eyes are also on the streamer Ultia, back after being the victim in 2021 of a wave of harassment which had earned the Zevent2021 to be accused of a sexist event.
Comments of the same nature were quick to flourish after the announcement of his participation…
