The wearing of the compulsory mask in transport, announced by the town hall and the metropolis of Nice for next Monday, was suspended by the administrative court of Nice this Friday.
The decision was expected this Friday, the day after the announcement by the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, of the return of the mask in public transport to deal with a seventh wave "which is soaring".
An appeal was immediately filed with the city's administrative court.
“I took my decree with other mayors of the metropolis of Nice (…) so that everyone from Monday wears the mask in a compulsory way”, on the 2,500 km of the bus and tram network, had declared Christian Estrosi, ex-LR.

The mayor of Nice wanted to go further than the government which, for the moment, only recommends wearing a mask in public transport.
For Christian Estrosi, the government "will be obliged to come to this, because 200,000 more cases in less than 24 hours, we can clearly see that we are on a 7th wave which is skyrocketing and which is bringing us towards a return to school in high risk”.

Thursday evening, more than 154,600 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in France, with 17,719 hospitalized patients, including 1,523 new admissions.
In the week ending July 3, the circulation of Covid-19 intensified in mainland France, and new hospitalizations as well as deaths increased sharply, mainly affecting the oldest, insufficiently vaccinated, also noted Public Health France.
