An excellent education and good degrees are important for lawnmower parents.

As a result, they often give their children too much support.

Munich – Lawnmower parents belong to the group of helicopter parents who want their children to live as carefree as possible – without obstacles and problems that the little ones could ultimately grow and mature with.

This style of upbringing becomes problematic at the latest in school.

The behavior of lawnmower parents often prevents children from developing independence, personal responsibility and determination.

Lawnmower parents sometimes resort to drastic measures for this.

Lawnmower parents remove all obstacles in life from their children's way so that they can use shortcuts to reach their goals faster.

According to a contribution by the Institute for Integrative Learning Therapy and Further Education (IFLW), teachers can sing a song about it.

Students often bring correct homework to class.

In class tests, however, they cannot call up a comparable performance.

This raises the suspicion that parents not only correct their children's homework, but do it directly for them.

They may want to make their children appear competent.

This behavior can permeate the entire school career.

Even in high school, it can still happen that parents do their children's homework or write the thesis for them.

Submarine parents also behave in a memorable way when it comes to the school activities of their offspring: they practically disappear and never show up at parents' conferences.

Discussions with the teachers are only sought if, for example, the child's transfer is at risk.

Then submarine parents like to threaten with a letter from a lawyer.

Lawnmower parents can also use this remedy if their children's school career is at risk.

Lawnmower parents like to resort to legal means when they get bad grades

Since lawnmower parents and helicopter parents are mostly highly educated and intelligent people for whom professional success plays an important role, they also value their children's good education and good qualifications.

With their support, they want to give their protégés a certain head start.

If it is still not enough for good grades, then there can be an emphatic discussion with the teacher or with the school performance.

If that doesn't help, they're happy to resort to legal means.

What children really need: parental patience and trust in their abilities

Instead of bringing up children to be passive, they should be allowed to experience things themselves.

They also need the certainty that defeats are part of life and that one can learn from mistakes.

Therefore, parents should show their children patience and confidence in their abilities.
