THE CHALLENGE

Novak Djokovic hits the eighth final at Wimbledon, the fourth in a row and the 32nd at the Grand Slam level.

In the final he faces Australian Nick Kyrgios, who reached the final after Rafael Nadal's retirement yesterday.

A tough opponent for Djokovic: there are two previous ones, both won by the Australian, who has never conceded even a set to his rival: "It won't be easy, I've never won a set with Kyrgios", the words of the Serbian.

Djokovic will aim for his 21st Grand Slam title to return within one length of Nadal's record (22).

By winning his match against Norrie, Djokovic nonetheless wrote a new page of statistics in his sport.

This final will be his eighth at Wimbledon, and only eight-time winner Roger Federer has done better with 12. Today's is his 32nd final in 68 Grand Slam tournaments played.

He thus takes the record with a better final than Federer (31).

And she equals Martina Navratilova to find herself one length behind Serena Williams (33) and two behind Chris Evert's all-time high (34).

By beating Norrie, Djokovic also signed his 85th win in the London Major.

Again, only Federer did better (105).

And he's been undefeated at Wimbledon since he left the quarter-finals in 2017 with 27 straight wins.

Only Pete Sampras (31), Roger Federer (40) and Björn Borg (41) did better.
