Consumers should be happy with the news.

For the first time this year, Aldi has reduced the prices on numerous products.

Consumers are now paying less for meat in particular.

In other segments, on the other hand, inflation will continue.

Munich - The discounter is turning the price screw - and for the first time this year on a grand scale.

The retailer made around 50 products cheaper last week, reports

Lebensmittel Zeitung.

“In the case of meat, the discounter went below important price thresholds in many cases, according to which customers rate the value for money of a retailer.

Whenever possible, the discounter went below the 3 or 4 euro mark,” according to the industry journal.

As a consumer, you immediately want to say “thank you”.

Because it's not just the people of Munich who are groaning under the current madness of inflation and the hefty price increase at Aldi in recent weeks.

Many wondered who can still afford these hammer prices.

Prices rose for around 400 products from the discounter.

Aldi lowers prices: High prices for meat spoil consumers' desire

The reason for the current drop in price is likely to be the lower sales in the meat display case.

Apparently, high inflation is spoiling consumers' desire for sausages, chops and juicy steaks.

"Despite the good barbecue weather, demand is not really picking up yet," observed the agricultural information service AMI at the beginning of the month.

The pain threshold of the customers was clearly reached.

And since the discounter likes to boast of its “excellent” price-performance ratio, there was a need for action.

Because "lower purchase prices are passed on to the customers," promises the discounter on its website.

Aldi lowers prices: minced meat, pork sausage and beef are now cheaper

For example, consumers can now buy mixed minced meat in 500 gram packs from Aldi Süd for EUR 3.99.

That's 60 cents less than last week.

Mixed minced meat (500 grams) is now available for EUR 3.99 instead of EUR 4.59.

The price of pork bratwurst in a 400 gram pack has been reduced from 3.49 to 2.99 euros.

The price for a kilo of beef steaks has been reduced by three euros to 24.99 euros

Other products, on the other hand, became more expensive.

Aldi fish fingers alone saw an overnight increase of 70 cents.

“Golden Seafood” was still available for 2.19 euros last weekend, on the following Monday the discounter charged 2.89 euros for its own brand in a 450 gram pack.

And the own-brand pizza in a double pack from Aldi has even gone up by 70 cents to 3.19 euros, reports

Lebensmittel Zeitung

.

It is therefore certainly not yet possible to speak of a trend reversal in food prices.

Even if the discounter sets the pace and is a pioneer when it comes to price reductions in the food retail sector.

But when it comes to dairy products, pizza, fish or paper, customers will probably have to adjust to further price increases.
