Three men have been arrested in connection with a find of more than a ton of cocaine in Aschaffenburg.
The 22 to 45-year-old suspects were arrested on June 21 when they wanted to pick up the goods worth around 100 million euros, the customs investigation office (ZFA) in Munich announced.
It is a Dutchman and two Moroccans residing in the Netherlands.
According to the authorities, this is the largest single quantity of the drug that has been seized in Bavaria to date.
Jürgen Thiel, head of drug smuggling at the ZFA, spoke of a "crime".
Investigations were still underway to catch those behind the action.
The goods were in a container with medical products that a company in Friedberg, Hesse, had ordered.
Authorities from abroad had given the German investigators a tip that there could be a large amount of cocaine in it.
It is assumed that the recipient of the medical devices had no knowledge of the drugs.
The delivery from the Dominican Republic was transported to Aschaffenburg via Hamburg.
There, the investigators secured the cocaine on the night of June 16.
According to the investigators, the container – now without contraband – was then delivered to Friedberg.
On June 21, the suspects then tried to pick up the cocaine in the parking lot of the medical device company.
They were arrested at the same time.
