A 15-year-old boy has been sentenced to life imprisonment in England for the murder of a 12-year-old girl.
As the British news agency PA reported from the courtroom in Liverpool on Monday, he can be released after 13 years at the earliest.
The violent death of twelve-year-old Ava had caused international horror.
The boy, who was 14 at the time, stabbed the girl in the neck in November in Liverpool city center after two groups of children and teenagers clashed over a Snapchat video.
The student had initially pleaded for self-defense, but after a two-week trial in May he was ultimately convicted of murder – the sentence has now followed.
British media asked the court to publish the name of the perpetrator.
However, this was rejected.
The age of criminal responsibility in England and Wales is ten years.
It happens again and again that children and young people are sentenced to long prison terms.
