When a girl was bitten by a tick, she suddenly became paralyzed.

Her mother therefore warns other parents emphatically.

Grenada - The summer invites you to stay outside in the countryside and finally recharge your batteries with vitamin D after a long winter.

But this also harbors dangers: Insects or ticks are lurking in the grass.

In addition to insect bites by wasps and bees, which can trigger allergic reactions, tick bites - popularly known as "tick bites" - can also be dangerous.

A mother from the American state of Mississippi once had to experience this.

Her five-year-old daughter was acting suspicious and worrying when she finally spotted the culprit on her head.

Five-year-old Kailyn Kirk from Grenada woke up one morning and suddenly couldn't speak or walk.

This came as a huge shock to her mother, Jessica Griffin.

She took to Facebook to describe the incident, explaining, "At first I thought her legs had fallen asleep, until I realized she could barely speak." As she brushed the girl's hair, she discovered a tick bite along with it, according to the Daily Mail Online Tick on Kailyn's head.

The mother acted immediately and took her daughter directly to the emergency room of a clinic.

There, the five-year-old's doctors diagnosed so-called tick paralysis, which can be transmitted by more than 40 different species of ticks in the world.

In Germany, however, experts are increasingly discovering tropical ticks.

Usually, the disease only affects domestic animals or herd livestock.

However, apparently even small children are not immune to it.

They then suffer from symptoms such as fatigue, muscle pain or numbness in the legs.

As in Kaylin's case, if the tick is not removed, it can even lead to paralysis of the limbs, including the tongue and face.

Fortunately, everything went well for Kaylin: As the doctors had already predicted, the side effects disappeared after 12 to 24 hours.

After this experience, however, her mother wants to warn other parents so they don't have to go through the same experience.

"Please, for God's sake, check your children for ticks!" She warned impressively on her Facebook account.

Finally, tick paralysis is more common in children than adults.

To prevent a tick bite, you can keep the bloodsucker away with many home remedies.

Ticks don't like garlic or coconut oil.
