There are many answers to the question of which diet is the right and healthiest.
But you should definitely throw some myths overboard.
Frankfurt – Nutrition is a much-discussed topic.
There are not only numerous articles about this on the Internet, each and every individual has their own principles to which they adhere.
There are no uniform rules for a healthy diet: "Avoid carbohydrates", for example, say some, for others they are indispensable.
Which dietary rules you should follow and which myths you should better throw overboard.
When it comes to losing weight, carbohydrates are the enemy.
Low carb, keto, and paleo are diets that redlist carbs.
Carbohydrates cannot be generalized at all: As Stefan Kabisch, study doctor at the German Institute for Human Nutrition told the German Press Agency (dpa), there are good and bad carbohydrates.
An example: Glucose and fructose consist of one sugar molecule, while starch and cellulose in plant-based foods are long sugar chains, so-called multiple sugars.
The latter are healthier because the body takes longer to break them down and absorb them.
According to a study, if you want to lose weight, you shouldn’t just rely on sport.
Healthy Eating: Not all carbohydrates are bad
Good carbs | Bad carbs |
---|---|
Whole grain products (e.g. bread, pasta) | White bread/ products made from wheat flour |
legumes | sugared lemonades |
nuts | cornflakes |
Dairy products | glucose |
apples, berries, oranges | long grain rice |
Basically, carbohydrates are the energy supplier of our body.
As macronutrients, along with protein and fat, they make up the majority of our food.
If you do without carbohydrates, you may have less energy throughout the day.
Eating Healthy: Is Eating Late at Night Really Unhealthy?
Myth number two: If you eat late at night, you will get fat - this is a widespread principle.
However, if you go to bed late and stop eating at 6 p.m., your body is not getting enough energy that it actually needs when you are awake.
As the nutritionist Vincci Tsui told the
Berlin Kurier
, this could also lead to nocturnal cravings.
Basically, you should eat when you're hungry, because that's when your body needs it.
This is the result of observations by nutritionists Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch on intuitive eating, as reported by Techniker Krankenkasse.

Processed foods are also generally considered unhealthy.
As with carbohydrates, this is not so easy to generalize, as diabetes educator Marina Chaparro
tells the
Berliner Kurier .
“Processed” just means that a food has been combined with at least one other ingredient or somehow altered from its natural state, like canned tomato passata.
Yoghurt or wholemeal bread are also considered processed.
Only heavily processed foods such as ready meals and packaged bread should be avoided - according to information from the German Society for Nutrition, they have a low nutrient and high energy density and also contribute to greater weight gain.
Healthy eating: not eating fruit because of too much sugar - a myth?
Myth number four: Fruit is high in sugar and should be avoided in a healthy diet.
That's true - otherwise it wouldn't taste sweet.
In addition to sugar, fruit also contains vitamins, antioxidants and fiber.
According to the German Society for Nutrition (DGE), everyone should eat fruit every day.
If you pay attention to your diet, you can do something for your health in various ways - for example, inhibit inflammation, promote muscle growth or influence thinking.
And if you want to lose weight, you can do it without giving up.
