(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 14 JUL - The man who raped a 10-year-old girl in Ohio who was then forced to go to another state to have an abortion was sentenced.
A dramatic story that was also cited by US President Joe Biden when he signed the enforcement order to protect the right to abortion after the Supreme Court decision.
Gerson Fuentes, 27, was arrested two days ago and confessed to raping the child twice.
The little girl had to go to Indiana to undergo an abortion that in her state, Ohio, a ban on termination of pregnancy went into effect from the sixth week, when many women do not even know they are pregnant.
"Try to love yourselves in the shoes of that little girl, she is only 10 years old", Biden had said about the shocking story.
Republican-led Indiana is heading for an abortion crunch next month in the wake of the top court overturning the Roe v Wade ruling.
