This is indicated by the data, updated to 5 July, the result of the rapid survey conducted by the

Istituto Superiore di Sanità

(Iss) and by

the Ministry of Health

with the regional laboratories and the Bruno Kessler Foundation.

From the survey, which was attended by 108 laboratories and based on the genetic sequences of 1,876 samples of the SarsCoV2 virus, it emerges that the sub-variant BA.5 has a prevalence of 75.5% (with a range ranging from 56.7% to 100% ), followed by the sub-variant BA.4 with the prevalence of 13.2% (0% -41.7%).

Dominant until a few weeks ago, BA.2 now has a prevalence dropped to 10.3% (0% -33.3%) and the first to arrive, BA.1 has dropped to 0.6% (0% -3.1%).

THE RT DESCENDS BUT THE INCIDENCE COMES UP

The Rt

contagion index falls

, which in any case remains above the epidemic threshold, while the

incidence

continues to rise in the period between 22 June and 5 July 2022. This is indicated by the weekly monitoring Iss-Ministry of Health on the progress of Covid-19 epidemic.

The mean Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was 1.34 (range 1.30-1.40), a decrease compared to the previous week (1.40).

The weekly incidence at the national level rises and goes from 1,158 per 100,000 inhabitants (08/07/2022 -14/07/2022) from 1,071 per 100,000 inhabitants (01/07/2022 -07/07/2022).

Hospitalizations for Covid-19 are still increasing

both in intensive care and in ordinary wards.

This is indicated by the weekly ISS-Ministry of Health monitoring on the progress of the Covid-19 epidemic.

The employment rate in intensive care rises to 3.9% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as of July 14) versus 3.5% last week.

The employment rate in medical areas nationwide rose to 15.8% (Ministry of Health daily survey on July 14) from 13.3% of the daily survey on July 7.

No region is classified as low risk

: the weekly monitoring by Iss-Ministry of Health on the progress of the Covid-19 epidemic indicates that 13 regions are at moderate risk (5 of which are highly likely to progress), while 8 are at risk high "for the presence of multiple resilience alerts and one for not having reached the minimum quality threshold of the data transmitted to the ISS".

Cases detected through contact tracing rise in a week from 10% to 11%;

the cases detected on the basis of the onset of symptoms drop from 41% to 39% and those with screening increase from 49% to 50%.
