30 degrees, the sun is burning and the circulation is going crazy.

Now it's time to drink a lot!

But what do I eat to get through the day well in the heat?

Not everything we eat is good for our body.

We feel this especially in the summer, when the delicious burger during the lunch break makes us fall into a “feeding coma”.

However, we are only recovering from this low very slowly.

That means looking for easy alternatives!

Eating when it's hot: Light dishes made from raw vegetables and fruits

At the top of the list of light foods, experts say, are 

salads

,

raw vegetables

, and

fruit

.

These foods aren't heavy on the stomach and, by the way, increase fluid intake.

They are also real vitamin bombs.

"A

small salad with tuna

is the ideal way to fill you up on a hot day, " says Monika Bischoff, Dietetic Director of the Center for Nutritional Medicine and Prevention at the Barmherzige Brüder Hospital in Munich.

What to eat when it's hot

In between, protein-rich food

You don't have to do without snacks in summer: "

Buttermilk

, ayran and lassi are good here," says Bischoff.

"These drinks are high in protein and don't spike blood sugar levels."

Hotness helps with sweating on hot days

Anyone who wants to know what is best to eat when it is hot should take a look at the menu in southern countries: Spicy foods dominate in many Indian, Asian or African dishes.

Not without reason, because sharpness helps with sweating.

So feel free to include

chili

,

tabasco, pepper

 or even slightly hot 

ginger

in your summer menu.

Cooling foods

are also known in traditional Chinese medicine

: These include

cucumbers, yogurt, zucchini, tomatoes

and, of course ,

watermelons

.

With a few tips, you can find the perfect watermelon while you're shopping.
