(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 17 - Today there are 15 applications for air competition received by the Unified Air Operations Center (Coau) of the Civil Protection Department which coordinates the Canadair and helicopters of the State air fleet engaged in fighting forest fires.
Five requests came from Lazio, 4 from Sicily, 2 from Calabria, 2 from Abruzzo and one each from Puglia and Sardinia.
The intense work carried out by the pilots of the aircraft has allowed to put under control or extinguish, so far 9 fires.
The activities of launching water and retardant and extinguishing liquid will continue as long as the light conditions allow to operate safely.
