Météo-France lifted heatwave red vigilance on Tuesday morning in 15 departments on the Atlantic coast, but 70 remain placed on orange vigilance.
The two giant fires in Gironde, against which 1,700 firefighters are fighting, have already ravaged 17,000 hectares of forest.
A suspect suspected of being the cause of one of the fires has been arrested.
According to the prefect of Gironde, a total of 32,300 people have had to leave their homes since Tuesday, including 16,000 for Monday alone.
