Disney and The Mandalorian accused of plagiarism by the Gremlins director

In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicles, Joe Dante believes that Baby Yoda, from the Star Wars series, is just a pale copy of Gizmo.

Joe Dante accuses Disney of being largely inspired by Gizmo, the mogul who seduced the public in the 1980s, for the creation of Baby Yoda, flagship character of

The Mandalorian.

Named Grogu in season 2, the creature returns in the third installment of the series, which is scheduled for release in 2023.

During an interview with the

San Francisco Chronicles

, Joe Dante explained the longevity of his cult film.

I think the longevity of the movies is really tied to the character of Gizmo, who is basically a baby...

" he said.

The director then attacks Grogu pointing out that “

Baby Yoda is completely stolen and simply copied.
