Inti Reimi, Peru (June 24)

One of the most special festivals not only in South America, but all over the world.

Inti Reimi takes place every year on June 24 in the city of Cusco, and is considered the most important festival for the Andes.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of tourists, from all over the world, come to visit the city during the festival days to take part in the special celebrations, based on ancient religious ceremonies.

The purpose of the festival is to pay homage to Inti, the sun, who according to tradition was the one who gave the Inca people the right to live.

The special festival is held for nine days, and includes performances, processions and lots of street parties.

Day of the Dead, Bolivia (November 1-2)

The "Day of the Dead" is celebrated in many countries in South and Central America, but it seems that at least in this sector - Bolivia is above them all.

This is an extraordinary event, celebrated by Catholic Christians in memory of their loved ones who have passed away.

During the holiday, residents of the country paint and decorate the city streets, sing and dance, dress up, rejoice and visit cemeteries and churches.

According to tradition, the first day of the holiday is dedicated to children who have passed away and the second day to adults.

During the festival, hundreds of events are held, including concerts, performances, activities for children and of course the main flower exhibition - Desfile de Silleteros, which annually attracts tens of thousands of tourists from all over the world.

This is actually a kind of competition between local flower growers, who present huge bouquets (can reach up to 120 kg) that they carry on their backs for long hours. All the days of the festival are accompanied by an atmosphere that is hard to find elsewhere, good music, especially delicious local food And lots of cheering.
