Canadian Hugo Houle won the 16 / th stage of the Tour de France, Carcassonne-Foix by 176.5 km.

In second place, almost a minute behind, the French Valentin Madouas, who beat the other Canadian Michale Woods, Houle's teammate in Israel Premier Tech.

Houle, visibly moved even before crossing the finish line, first pulled a chain with an image out of his shirt and then pointed to the sky to dedicate the victory, the third in his career and the first in Europe, to his brother Pierrick, killed ten years ago, while jogging, by a motorist who drove drunk.

The Danish Jonas Vingegaard kept the yellow jersey as leader of the overall classification of the Tour at the end of the 16th stage.

At the start, however, Aurélien Paret-Peintre and Mikael Cherel, both of AG2R-Citroen, did not show up, excluded as positive for Covid and with a viral load too high to continue the Grande Boucle.
