Exceptional rainfall deficit on Lazio with the provinces of Rome and Viterbo "Italian capitals of thirst".
This is the alarm launched by the ANBI Observatory on Water Resources, based on the data of the weekly report which reports how Lake Bracciano has dropped by 36 centimeters compared to last year, that of Nemi by 96, while Lake Turano is decreasing of one centimeter per day.
The flows of the Aniene river remain significantly below average, while those of Liri and Sacco are at their lowest since 2017;
on the other hand, the levels of the Tiber have returned substantially in line with previous years.
The heat and the lack of rains are also compromising the underground water reserves of Central and Northern Italy:
this is reported by the ANBI Observatory on Water Resources, based on the data of the weekly report, underlining that for example
the Po river which weekly marks negative flow records,
reaching 113.7 cubic meters per second (a good 123 cubic meters per second less than the previous historical low) at the Pontelagoscuro survey in Ferrara, i.e. about 10% of the average flow rate and 75% less than the flow rate limit for the intrusion of the saline wedge.
