Rogo Versilia: Region, over a thousand evacuees

(ANSA) - MASSAROSA (LUCCA), 21 JUL - More than 1,000 people evacuated due to the fire that broke out in Versilia last Monday and which from the hills of Massarosa then extended to the neighboring territory which falls within the municipality of Camaiore and then also fractions of the municipality of Lucca .

The figure, doubled compared to yesterday, is provided by the regional civil protection of Tuscany.

   Of these about 500 evacuated in the territory of Massarosa, another 370 in the municipality of Camaiore and 200 in that of Lucca.

At the moment the burnt area, according to the data released by the Region, is 868 hectares.

   At work this morning to face the flames, the Region always explains, present about 80 regional forest firefighters, 105 firefighters, 3 regional fleet helicopters and 3 Canadair "who are implementing the containment strategy to try to stabilize" the fire in the arc of the day.
