On the fruit, on the rubbish or on the window: In midsummer, the pests in the apartment can be a nuisance.

Read here how to get rid of them quickly.

For many, flies are just annoying - after all, their buzzing gets on the biscuit, especially when falling asleep.

In addition, it is very unappetizing when many of these pests are sitting on the waste or even on fresh fruit in the kitchen.

Essential Oils

Flies do not like essential oils, which is why they are easily put off by the smell and run away.

Laurel oil

in particular

is effective here.

Therefore, put a few drops of the oil in a fragrance lamp with a little water.

This then exudes the fragrance in the respective room.

Alternatively, you can fill the mixture into a spray bottle and apply it to the trash can, fruit bowl, etc.

The situation is similar with

cloves

.

Get the oil here again and put it in an aroma lamp.

If you don't have one, you can simply cut a lemon in half, drape the cloves on top and place the decoration in the window.

The scent of

eucalyptus oil

is also too penetrating for the flies, which is why they can use this instead of laurel or clove oil.

Hot spices

Chili or cayenne pepper also have a deterrent effect on the pests.

Simply

place the powder in a bowl of warm water and dissolve

.

Then they put it in the window or at other "collecting places".

Incidentally, you can also pour the mixture into a spray bottle and spray it on particularly sensitive areas.

tomato bed

To most of us they smell like a Mediterranean vacation, to flies they are just foul smelling: tomato plants.

If you plant them on your terrace or balcony, you have a kind

of natural protective shield against annoying insects

, so to speak .

On top of that, you always have fresh tomatoes at home for a delicious summer salad.

Matches against larvae

However, if you are in and around the houseplants, you should try this unusual trick:

take matches and stick them upside down in the potting soil

.

The reason for this: the so-called mourning fly is only too happy to lay its eggs in the potting soil and the larvae then feed on the plant roots.

Stick the matchhead into the soil and then pour water on it, it releases sulfur which kills the larvae.

flypaper

Otherwise, you also have the option of simply laying out flypaper.

You can buy this

at the drugstore or you can simply make it yourself

.

Instructions can be found on Brigitte.de: To do this, fill a saucepan with 750 milliliters of sunflower oil.

Then add a few spoonfuls of honey and some resin.

Heat the mixture until the resin becomes liquid.

Then cut

strips of parchment paper and dip it into the sticky mass

.

When this has cooled down and is dry, you can lay out the homemade flypaper.
