The assault process against former football world champion Jérôme Boateng is entering the next round.

The 33-year-old has to face another hearing on October 20, according to the Munich I district court.

In September last year, the Munich district court sentenced Boateng to a fine of 1.8 million euros.

The court saw it as proven that the athlete had hit his then partner in the face on a Caribbean vacation in 2018.

Boateng appealed against this verdict – as did the public prosecutor and the private prosecutor.

The judge imposed a fine of 60 daily rates of 30,000 euros each.

Boateng is therefore not considered to have a criminal record, as the penalty is below the limit of 90 daily rates.

In the process, the public prosecutor's office had demanded a suspended sentence of one and a half years and a fine of 1.5 million euros.

Boateng's then defender Kai Walden pleads for acquittal.

Boateng had denied the allegations.

He admitted that there was an escalation at the time.

He emphasized that he never hit his ex-girlfriend.

According to their concurring statements, the two have had an “on-off relationship” since 2007, and since 2015 they have been arguing in the family court about the right to determine the residence of their children.

Boateng won the treble as a Bayern Munich player in 2013 and 2020: German Championship, DFB Cup and Champions League.

With the national team he became world champion in 2014.

He is under contract with Olympique Lyon in 2021.
